21st January. Attend Academy provided a one-day workshop, funded by Goldstar, for people seeking to engage with disabled volunteers.
This workshop provided the opportunity to identify how organisations can engage and include disabled volunteers. It explored different barriers or perceived barriers to inclusive volunteering faced by both disabled people and organisations. The workshop was for all those working with volunteers in hospitals, including line managers, supervisors, team leaders, and managers/coordinators of volunteer groups.

As a wheelchair-user, Becki believes that disabled people play a significant role in making society into an enablist and inclusive environment. Becki is hoping the future sees many more volunteer involving organisations feeling confident, willing and able to engage disabled volunteers in new and varied opportunities within the Health and Social Care Sector.
